Danni and Peta’s destination wedding had all the hallmarks of a poetic love story that you find in old romantic novel hidden in a dusty bookstore.
The girls wanted a Wintery wedding so they chose the snow covered mountains of British Columbia, in Canada. Danni and Peta chose the location as they had already met and spent time with their photographer Lisa at a another wedding that they girls were bridesmaids for and Lisa resided in Canada, so the girls decided to wed in Lisa’s home town. The decision was further cemented by the fact that same-sex marriage was legal there…winning! “As we could not get married in our country, it was so lovely to go to Canada and receive so much love and warm wishes from the locals during our time over there. We loved the magical back drop of the snow covered mountains. It felt like a fairytale.”
Danni and Peta flew over from Australia with 16 of their closest family and friends to a gorgeous spot at Sun Peaks Ski Resort. “The ceremony was held outdoors on the Hotel’s patio. The only décor we had was the natural view of the ski village and mountains around us. It was beautiful! We will never forget standing outside on Mantels patio in front of all our loved ones and looking into each others eyes and feeling like the luckiest girls in the world.” Nawwwww.
Danni and Peta both decided on dresses for their wedding, one in white, the other in black.
A Wintery Canadian wedding is not complete without a…sleigh of course! To Danni and Peta’s delight, a surprise horse-drawn sleigh arrive to whisk them away to the ceremony. Swoon.
Danni, Peta and their guests braved the Canadian frost and opted for an outdoor ceremony at the Delta Mantels Patio amongst the snow-capped trees, with white as far as the eye could see.
“Snow boarding down the mountain as a newly wed couple in our frocks was very much a highlight. We will never forget that feeling of pure joy. Very special for us to spend time together, away from the crowds, doing what we love to do.” Hahahahahahaha.
Danni and Peta have been together for 9 years and live in Melbourne, Australia. They are also keen snowboarders, which explains their love for snow.
“Lisa was incredibly professional and efficient, yet had the ability to project calm and relaxed vibes throughout the day. We could not be happier with the results she achieved. it is unbelievable how many people have come up to me and are absolutely amazed by how fantastic our wedding photos are, all thanks to her. She is worth her weight in gold!!”
Danni and Peta’s reception was held at the hotel, which was perfect for their “intimate gathering of friends and family.”
