Kieren (Australian) and Melissa (Canadian) met in Vancouver, moved back to Australia, and then back to Canada again, where they plan to stay… probably! During their trip back to Australia they got engaged and with their wedding plans currently up in the air, they decided a quick shoot in Brisbane’s New Farm Park would be a great way to celebrate their engagement.
“We met in Vancouver back in 2008. I was looking for friends as I had just moved over from Australia and I started chatting to Melissa online. We met for a beer and the rest was history! I didn’t really plan to meet the person I wanted to spend the rest of my life with on the opposite side of the world and it’s certainly been an adventure. I’ve since applied for permanent residency and we’ll be settling here. Last year we saw the arrival of our fur baby, Django.”
“Melissa and I went to Daydream Island in the Whitsundays as one of our last trips before we moved back to Canada. I had bought the ring a couple of months earlier and had been carrying it around for a while trying to think of the best way to propose. When we were on the Island I looked at the map and noticed there was a little beach called Lover’s Cove which I thought would be the perfect (albeit cheesy) place to propose. On our first day it rained all day and when the sun finally came out I asked Melissa if she wanted to go for a walk. When we got to Lover’s Cove there were people everywhere! Not the private romantic moment I had envisioned. We climbed over some rocks though and found a little spot away from everyone. The proposal itself was simple and nerve wracking. I told her she was my best friend and I couldn’t imagine the rest of my life without her. We celebrated that night with several cocktails!”
